Photofacials are a relatively new skincare treatment that is designed to use a laser to address common skin issues. This procedure is effective when it comes to wrinkles and scarring, effectively resurfacing your skin to reveal beautifully smooth and youthful results. Here are 4 things you should know about Scottsdale photofacials.
1. It improves skin tone and texture. This procedure is excellent for countering the signs of aging, including fine lines, wrinkles, and age spots. In some cases, the laser used during the procedure can stimulate collagen formation, resulting in tighter and firmer skin. This type of facial also helps to treat acne by destroying acne bacteria, as well as addressing any pigmentation and scarring that may have been brought about by previous break outs. Freckles can also be addressed by a Scottsdale photofacial, particularly since this treatment tends to result in very few side effects and brings with it little to no down time for recovery. It diminishes the pigment that makes up freckles, allowing it to be absorbed back into the skin. You can see results in as little as one treatment and repeated photofacials will leave you well on the way to achieving the smooth skin of your dreams! As an added bonus, women with darker facial hair can actually expect to see diminished hair growth because the laser used during treatment can help damage the hair follicle, thus reducing its ability to grow new hair.
2. There is very little recovery time. The procedure is very safe, employing cooling gels to reduce your discomfort during treatment. Patients generally have a little bit of redness and swelling following their Scottsdale photofacial, but this is a very common result and tends to go away in as little as a day or two. During the treatment, the laser pulse can best be described as being snapped with a rubber band. This is the only discomfort associated with the treatment and many patients are able to withstand it, but your doctor can apply numbing gels or local anesthetic to minimize your any pain. You can expect to see the results you’re looking for after just 1 treatment, allowing you to look and feel youthful and more beautiful than ever!
3. Repeated treatments can leave you looking even better. Photofacials show results after just one treatment, but many patients report even better results if they return for follow-up procedures. A Scottsdale photofacial is best performed under the care and supervision of a qualified and experienced medical professional, so make sure you are working with someone who is able to provide you with the best results possible.

Are you tired of having to deal with aging, sun-damaged, or pigmented skin? Do you feel like your skin is making you look and feel years older than you truly are? A Scottsdale chemical peel might be the perfect solution for you. Chemical peels are popular for their benefits on aging skin, and are performed in countless medical spas across the country. They can improve the appearance of a number of facial issues, including fine lines, hyperpigmentation, enlarged pores, light sun damage, light freckling, and scarring.
The Procedure
Chemical peels are traditionally performed in a medical spa or doctor’s office because, as the name implies, they are made of any number of chemicals that require an expert’s touch. There are many different types of chemical peels that you can look into, including beta hydroxyl acid peels, which is a mild resurfacing treatment that is frequently used for acne sufferers. Chemical peels vary in strength, which results in different amounts of recovery time. However, the general procedure is the same. You would go into a doctor’s office or medical spa office and have your skin cleansed, following by the application of the actual chemical(s) being used in your procedure. Mild and medium-strength peels generally don’t require any sort of anesthetic, but deep Scottsdale chemical peels are usually paired with local anesthesia to minimize discomfort. Then, the solution is removed and your doctor will give you his or her recommendations for the recovery process.
Recovery
Since a Scottsdale chemical peel essentially removes layers of your skin, stimulating the formation of new collagen and dermal layers, recovery time is a process that is incredibly important in ensuring successful results. The mild and medium-strength peels tend to heal up and begin to show results in as little as a week, provided that you comply with aftercare instructions. If you have a deep chemical peel informed, your skin will have to go through a longer recovery process that can leave your skin reddish and healing for three months or more. Talk to your doctor to see which peel is the best for you; results vary depending on the chemical peel’s strength. The strength of the peel largely depends on what you want to have treated; light scarring, wrinkles, and pigmentation issues can usually stand to benefit from one or more treatments of the mild to medium-strength peels, while deeper scars and wrinkle issues generally require the strongest Scottsdale chemical peel available.

Facials are a popular treatment for individuals who feel like they could benefit from anti-aging benefits, skin resurfacing, or a simple deep-cleansing treatment. However, many myths and misconceptions surround Scottsdale facials, ranging from at-home treatments to the after-effects of Scottsdale facials. Here are a few of the top myths and questions surrounding this glamorous treatment.
I break out after my facials. I should just do them at home.
This is entirely not true with professional facials. If you are breaking out following your treatment, then your esthetician probably did not use the right products for your skin, leading to irritation and inflammation. You may also be breaking out because any extractions that were performed were not executed correctly, and may have led to the spreading of bacteria. However, you can do facials at home, but you won’t get the same results as Scottsdale facials performed by an experienced and professional esthetician. A professional will be able to correctly diagnose your skin and tailor a treatment for your specific needs, while an at-home facial is devoid of the experienced input of a qualified esthetician. If you really want results with your Scottsdale facials, go to an experienced esthetician and ask for their advice.
I have to break the bank with the products that my spa/salon recommends.
Another huge myth surrounding Scottsdale facials is that your skin will suffer if you do not go out and purchase each and every product your esthetician recommends. You should be making educated decisions regarding your skin care that suit your budget and lifestyle; feel free to ask your esthetician why he or she is recommending a specific product, which product is most essential, and which drug store brands can offer comparable results or will work well with your skin care regimen. You deserve to have lovely skin, but you don’t need to stress about the products that you need and whether you’ll be able to afford them. There’s no shame in working with your esthetician to figure out which products work best for you and your lifestyle; if he or she is not willing to work with you, then you should be looking into finding a different esthetician.
I don’t need to tell my esthetician about my medications. S/he isn’t my dermatologist.
While your esthetician might not be a dermatologist, he or she still works very closely with your skin and can help tailor a skin care process that benefits you. Furthermore, during your Scottsdale facials, it is important to inform your esthetician about any medications you may be on that affect the skin, like Accutane, birth control pills, and antibiotics. These medications may dry out the skin or react badly to the products that might be used during a facial. Let your esthetician know so that he or she can alter your treatment plan to suit your needs.

A recent movement in the world of beauty is the increase in popularity of Scottsdale facials. They are a cost-efficient way to provide your skin with an incredible amount of benefits, particularly since there are different types of facials for nearly every skincare need. There are treatments that provide cleaner skin, smaller pores, oil reduction, moisture treatments, anti-aging benefits, and countless other types of skin care concerns that can be combated by a quick trip to your local medical spa.
The types of Scottsdale facials offered by medical spas vary per location, but they typically fit into several broad categories.
Cleansing facials are designed to penetrate deep into the skin’s pores, lifting dirt, oil, and bacteria that has settled in over time. These facials are beneficial for individuals who suffer from clogged pores and acne, as well as individuals who wish to simply brighten up their complexion and benefit from a deep cleansing.
Anti-aging facials are designed to tighten up the skin and can exfoliate to address wrinkles and fine lines. They can also help to eliminate the dark spots that come along with sun damage and aging, potentially giving you a much more youthful complexion.
Moisturizing facials provide dry skin with essential oils and moisturizing products to soothe the face. They can be made up of a variety of things, such as more natural bases or gentle ingredients for sensitive skin. Discuss your options with medical spa staff to see what will work best for your skin care needs and complexion.
Though Scottsdale facials seem like they’re designed just for women, men are increasingly becoming drawn to facials for their cleansing and complexion-brightening benefits. Many spas also offer “manly” facials that use things like hot towels to open the pores and cleanse deep into the facial skin, giving guys the opportunity to pamper themselves as well.

Is your face too dry or oily? Are you tired of having to cover unsightly blemishes or acne scars? Has the sun had its way with your skin and are you now faced with sun damage or hyperpigmentation? In these instances and more, Scottsdale facials may help alleviate your troubles.
What is it?
Scottsdale facials are essentially a treatment applied to your face that is designed to provide you with deep cleansing. There are many different types of facials that are targeted for specific needs, including acne clearing, anti-aging benefits, and hydration treatments. They typically incorporate a variety of steps designed to enhance your experience and results, including creams, masks, peels, steam, exfoliation, extraction, lotions, and massages, though the specific steps may vary per different locations.
Common Facials
The basic facial offered by many medical spas is simply a cleansing treatment for normal skin.
An oxygen facial is a unique facial that combines the power of antioxidants with essential trace minerals to infuse your skin with collagen-building nutrients. You’ll experience a facial massage to increase circulation supplemented by vitamins A,C,E, AND D in the form of a hydrating gel. This facial is designed to firm your skin and restore its healthy glow.
A paraffin facial involves a paraffin mask that is applied to the face on top of a thin gauze layer. This is an anti-aging treatment that involves the use of a rejuvenating cream designed to give the skin a naturally beautiful glow.
Many medical spas in Arizona offer some variation of an acne facial, a treatment designed for both teens and adults to combat acne. It is typically a deep-cleaning facial that penetrates deep into the pores to remove impurities and acne-causing materials. It can also include extractions, but the specifics vary per each medical spa location.

Why do I need a Photofacial?
If you are tired of looking older than you feel due to age lines and redness, a photofacial may be the perfect solution for you. This procedure constricts collagen and blood vessels below the epidermis (the topmost layer of skin), resulting in reduced age lines and diminished redness.
This procedure, officially identified as IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), can correct facial skin imperfections, signs of aging, birthmarks, unwanted hair, small veins, and blemishes all in a safe, non-invasive way. During the procedure, the photofacial device is placed against the skin and delivers a warm flash of bright light to an area encompassing about one square inch of skin. This flash is delivered every two to four seconds and encourages the production of collagen, the skin’s natural wrinkle-filling material. Collagen production is stimulated over the course of five to twelve weeks.
Redness may persist following a Scottsdale photofacial procedure for a few minutes or one to two days, with the benefits of the treatment truly becoming noticeable in the following weeks. For optimal results, your dermatologist may recommend five full-face photofacial sessions three weeks apart.
There is little to no down time for the patient, though as always, routine skin care and sunscreen practices are recommended.

How We Can Help
As the skin experiences sun damage, blemishes, and natural aging processes, scars and wrinkles tend to remain on its surface. These fine lines, light acne scars, and other signs of hyperpigmentation result in an uneven facial texture and can add years to an otherwise youthful face. However, our individualized treatment plans and myriad cosmetic procedures are your answer to youthful, beautiful skin.
What We Offer
The BodyNew MedSpa offers numerous Scottsdale facial treatments, including various peels, laser treatments, and microdermabrasion. Here, we’ll spotlight just a few of our procedures that specifically target scarring and hyperpigmentation. The Regenique facial is a skin rejuvenation program involving medical microdermabrasion, ultrasound stimulation, and a silicone mask that will collectively smooth wrinkles, remove discolorations, minimize scars, and improve acne – plus, results can be seen after just one treatment.
We also offer Scottsdale acne treatments, one of which includes the very effective Blue Light with Levulan procedure, a type of photodynamic therapy that shrinks the sebaceous glands and improves acne, pores, wrinkles, acne, and hyperpigmentation. Needless to say, the dramatic improvements that can be seen on our results page lead directly to more beautiful and naturally radiant skin.

Learning about the Scottsdale Chemical Peel
Many times patients book appointments to go through with chemical peels without really understanding the technique or their own responsibilities on their end. The Scottsdale chemical peel is a very effective facial procedure for those patients who suffer from deep wrinkles around the chin and lip areas. Patients with long lasting sun damage and exposure to harsher elements can also be good candidates for the facial treatment.
The Scottsdale Chemical Peel Technique and Procedure
A full-face deep Scottsdale chemical peel takes 1 to 2 hours to perform. A more limited procedure (such as treatment of wrinkling above the lip) will generally take less than a half-hour. A solution is applied to the area to be treated (avoiding the eyes, brows and lips). There is a slight burning sensation, but it is minimal since the solution also acts as an anesthetic. After the peel solution has worked on the skin, it is neutralized with water. Approximately one hour later, a thick coating of petroleum jelly is layered over the patient’s face, covering the protective crust which develops rapidly over the area. This stays in place for 1 to 2 days. In an alternative technique, the patient’s face is covered by a “mask,” composed of strips of adhesive tape, with openings for the eyes and mouth (this is particularly effective in cases of severe wrinkling).
